Golf is not only a great sport, but it also allows us to take in the beauty of nature at its sculpted finest. As we have mentioned in previous articles, golf architects go to great lengths to preserve the splendor of the surroundings. Whether you are playing locally, or travelling hundreds of miles to spend a few days of nothing but golf, there are deals to be had. If you perform a simple Google search on discount golf vacations, you will come up with millions of pages of results. No matter what country you may be from, or travelling to, there are thousands of choices for you to choose from waiting for you. Some golf-travel web sites resemble the look & feel of travel agency sites in that you can plug in the dates you want, view package deals, and book it on line. Golf as a sport is sometimes up, and sometimes down, in terms of rounds played, spending etc. This leads resorts and courses to offer deals and packages on their web sites, and through travel agents. The golfing consumer who is web-savvy can use the Internet to choose locations such as Barton Creek in Austin, Texas for a three-day golf journey to play on one, or more, of their multiple great courses. In the case of Barton Creek, a trip could include provisions for the whole family at off-season rates, in resort style. They happen to have golf, tennis, luxury spas and more. Off-season would be summer for their particular location. The great thing is that resorts such as Barton Creek publish their rates and terms on their web sites, so you can estimate costs, and know what is all going to be included before you walk out the door. Note: I chose them as an example when I learned about them through a potential distributor of our golf product who calls on the companies that utilize their facilities for corporate outings, and he pointed out their web site to me. There is however almost no end to the places in the US, and around the world that offer golf getaway vacations at reduced rates throughout the year. If planning is not your idea of a great way to spend the day, you could leave it all up to professional travel agencies to arrange the whole trip for you. Since they book a lot of golf, travel, and accommodations, you may be surprised at how good their rates can be vs. (even off-season) direct, which may include airfare and car. Things to consider when planning such a trip:
Bargains can be found locally too. In my hometown, there are leisure golf/dinner packages that can turn a day of golf into a thoroughly enjoyable time with friends, and family. One course here last year offered a prime rib dinner with golf (w/cart) for $40 to attract golfers on the weekend after 1:00PM. They were actually trying to get more people to discover their restaurant after golf, so the price to play 18 holes after 1:00PM with a cart was $48 without the dinner, and $40 if you wanted the golf/dinner package…Go figure! Check your local courses to see what is available too. A little shopping is the key to saving money on golf. A little planning can pay off on golf travel vacations. Practice, practice, practice…Enjoy Golf! See our products page where you can order your Gotta-Grip, and other great golf products.
